Tarangire's Story

Often overshadowed by its famous Northern Circuit neighbours, Tarangire is a revelation for travellers who seek genuine wilderness beyond the tourist trail. During the dry season (Juneâ€“October), the Tarangire River becomes the only reliable water source in the region, drawing tens of thousands of animals and creating one of the most intense wildlife concentrations in Africa.

The park is distinguished by its ancient baobab trees — some estimated to be over 1,000 years old — their magnificent silhouettes creating an unparalleled photographic landscape. The elephant population here is extraordinary, with family herds of 200 or more gathering at the river banks.
